Cleaning Tidbit - Food Grease on Clothing
We've all experienced that dreaded moment when a little mishap during a meal leaves a stain on our clothes. I certainly had one of those moments, and it led me to discover a quick and effective solution.
One evening, my husband spent the day preparing a delicious homemade chili for dinner. As I sat down to enjoy the meal, I didn't notice anything unusual. But after dinner, I noticed a dime-sized spot on my shirt that looked like oil—perhaps from the ground meats or the fat skimmed from the chili before serving.
What made it worse? I was wearing one of my brand new work shirts—the kind I hadn’t even worn outside the house yet. I needed it to stay in perfect condition. So, I decided to tackle the stain head-on with a simple yet effective method.
Here’s how I managed to remove that stubborn spot and save my shirt:
- Grab a soft brush (any kind will do) and some dish soap. Gently rub the soap into the stained area, letting it sit for about 10 minutes.
- Fill a bowl or sink with warm water (avoid anything too hot to prevent color fading), and soak the shirt for 30 minutes.
- After soaking, squeeze out as much water as you can, and then wash the shirt as usual in your laundry machine.
By following these steps, I was able to remove the stain and preserve my shirt—just hours old and already a favorite from Unmix The Mess.
